1年生 英語 Let’s learn colors!

4月26日(金) We started the class with a simple game: Rock, Paper, Scissors. The first graders, of course, know the Japanese version, but after practicing a few times, we played in English. The students played against me, and if they lost, they had to sit down. About half the class were winners!

Next we studied the alphabet using the textbook “Sounds Great 1”.  As it is only April, we have just started, so today we focused on the letters Aa, Bb, and Cc. The students enjoy the textbook as it has many fun pictures and activities.

The final thing we did today was study colors in English. We have studied colors before, so this was a review. We then played the “Jumping Game”, with boys against girls. The students jump over color flashcards while saying the colors in English. If a student can make it all the way across the line of flashcards to the other side, their team gets a point. The students could all remember the English names of colors after this game!
