2年生 英語 Morning class with 2nd graders

9月4日(金) Today, we had three main activities to get through.

First, as with other grades, we started with a dictation.  As we studied phonics in the 1st grade (consonants and vowel sounds), we have slowly been putting the sounds together to form simple 3-letter words, like dog, cat, box, etc.  This was difficult for some students at the beginning of the year, but almost everyone can write such words now, without looking at their textbooks for help!  We are still studying phonics, but we are near the end of the textbook we are using.  I am confident that all the students will have mastered phonics by the end of the year, and that by next year we can move onto more difficult words.
At the end of the class, we studied adjectives.  These were opposite words such as big/small, tall/short, and so on.  We then played a simple game with cards to see if they remembered the words.  If they remember the words, they can get 2 points!  In the future, I hope to use these words to make sentences.
